Hirono Shelter Series Figures

Hirono Shelter Series Figures is a POP MART blind box line for Hirono, the freckled, world-weary boy character from POP MART's in-house design studio. It went on sale July 19, 2024 and runs twelve regular designs plus a hidden thirteenth, Stuffed Bear. Every figure buries Hirono inside something he can hide in — a melted candle, a mantel clock, a stone watchtower, a gold birdcage — which is the point POP MART made when it announced the set: a shelter, it wrote, is "not only a place to stay physically but also a way for us to hide from worries and sadness."

Story

POP MART published one statement for this series, in the launch post on its official Instagram account on July 12, 2024, a week before the drop: "Shelter is not only a place to stay physically but also a way for us to hide from worries and sadness. Hirono metamorphoses into different scenes, items, and identities, finding his safe shelter in the complicated world!"

POP MART has not published individual backstories for the figures in this set. Each one's official text is its name and, for five of the twelve regulars and the secret, a one-line note on how the toy works, such as "Features Detachable Flames." The lineup below therefore describes what each figure is, with those official notes where they exist.

Lineup

• Candleholder — Hirono is buried under a thick white melted-candle shell that drips over his brow, shoulders and arms, seated in a rusty brown ceramic chamberstick with a looping handle; a small amber teardrop flame on a dark twisted wick stands on the crown of his head. POP MART: "Features Detachable Flames."
• Mantel Clock — Hirono sits cross-legged inside a dark brown wooden clock case with a pitched roof and a small gold SHELTER plaque, its two hinged doors swung open on brass hinges; he wears only blue shorts with a white bandage wrapped around one leg, one eye winked shut. POP MART: "The left and right doors can be opened."
• Poet — Hirono hides behind a flat wood-grain cut-out board inked in heavy black line art of a top hat, suit, waistcoat and raised goblet; only his freckled face and rust-red hair show through the round face hole, with his real ear and legs poking out at the edges.
• Traffic Cone — Hirono wears a red-and-white striped traffic-cone body on a red square base and is bound in rusty barbed wire that he grips in both hands; a small red cone cap sits on his auburn hair carrying a hand-lettered wooden DON'T CROSS sign on a metal post. POP MART: "The top accessory is magnetic."
• Fort — Only Hirono's navy-blue hair and glaring eyes rise above the battlements of a weathered grey stone watchtower that encases his body; the conical shingled roof with a ball finial rests on his head like a hat, and a small red-brown arched door sits at the tower's foot.
• Circus — Hirono is sheltered inside a red-and-white striped circus tent worn as a hooded cloak, with a gold fringe at the hem of the hood and a red pennant on the peak; underneath he wears a striped shirt and blue-grey shorts with a yellow star, standing on a red disc with a black-and-white striped rim.
• Cabin — Hirono wears a dark red log-cabin board over his torso, two windows glowing yellow and a black doorway below; a brick chimney grows out of his auburn hair with a small white bird perched on the rim, and he stands in red boots.
• Birdy — Hirono is bundled in an off-white feather hood and cape whose overlapping plumes frame his face, pointed elf ears pushing through; two small brown antler twigs sit on the hood and a copper bell hangs from a rope beside the right ear, with bare pink feet below the hem. POP MART: "The head bell can be freely positioned for customization."
• Alien — Hirono is dressed in a battered silver flying saucer: a riveted dome helmet over green hair topped by a copper propeller, two clear bubble domes and rod antennae at the sides, and a saucer skirt he holds by two handles; he wears black boots.
• Warrior — Hirono wears a brown cardboard star-shaped hood and matching tabard, patched with tape and scrawled in black marker with a circled FORT and a crossed-out KEEP OUT; his black hair sticks out of the star and he holds a small white bone in one hand. POP MART: "Detachable bones and left hand for versatile posing."
• Sunny Doll — Hirono is wrapped as a hanging sunny doll in a smooth white cloth hood and cape cinched at the neck with a brown rope bow, a white hanging loop rising from the crown and a small red-and-white striped party cone tilted at the side; pale blue hair and tan-yellow boots.
• Birdcage — Hirono's head is shut inside a gold birdcage with a ring hook on top, his white hair pressed against the bars and his face looking out between them; he holds a dark blue blanket cloak printed with pale stars up around his shoulders with both hands.
• Stuffed Bear (secret) — Hirono wears a shaggy brown teddy-bear suit with a stitched burlap patch on the belly, cream claw tips at the hands and feet and a red scarf at the throat; the official shot shows his navy-blue hair bare, while the secret panel's inset shows the detachable bear headgear with a red cross-stitch eye, a black button eye and a small white cap. POP MART: "The headgear is magnetic."

Pull rates

Each single box holds one of the twelve regular designs at 1/12 odds. POP MART's GAME RULES panel prints "Each regular figurine with odds 1/12, secret figurine with odds 1/144", and the SECRET EDITION panel repeats the second half for Stuffed Bear: "The probability of drawing the secret figurine in this series is 1/144." A whole set is twelve boxes with a no-repeat guarantee — "The whole set contains 12 blind boxes (no repetitions). In case your set contains a repeated figurine, we will take the extra one back and send you the missing item." On POP MART Philippines a single box lists at ₱600 and the whole set at ₱7,200; on POP MART US the same two units list at $19.99 and $239.88. Sizing and materials

Figures stand 6-10 cm (2.36-3.94 in) tall, and POP MART's own size chart sets that range against an iPhone 13 at 14.6 cm. They are molded in ABS, PVC and magnet parts — the US INFORMATION panel prints the material as ABS/PVC/MAGNET and the Philippine panel as PVC/ABS/Magnet, the same three components in a different order — and several figures use those magnets for their removable pieces, including Traffic Cone's sign cap and Stuffed Bear's headgear. The Philippine information panel rates the set 15+, and the US product description carries the same warning ("Not suitable for persons under 15"); in place of an age row the US panel prints the execution standards T/CPQS C010-2024 and T/CPQS C011-2023. POP MART notes the actual measurement may vary within a normal range of about 0.5-1 cm (0.19-0.39 in) depending on how it is taken. A single blind box measures 2.8" x 2.8" x 3.9"; the whole-set display box measures 11.2" x 8.4" x 4.5".
